Google Reader Shutting Down July 1, 2013

I want to make my readers aware that Google announced that they are shutting down Google Reader down on July 1, 2013. This means we will no longer be able to read the blogs we are subscribed to in google reader after July 1, 2013.  This will not affect those who are subscribed to me by email. You will continue to get your email updates as usual.

I don't want anyone to miss out in transferring your subscribed blogs in Google Reader to another app. I want you  to be able to continue reading the blogs your subscribed to because after July 1, 2013 you will no longer have your blog list available in Google Reader. So you won't be able to transfer them to another app.

I've been looking for an alternative RSS Reader and I found one I like.

It is called Feedly. Here is the direct link to their website http://www.feedly.com/

I've been doing some digging and found some articles on the Feedly. I put the links for them below.

I love the android app for this. There is also an app for apple users.

Then there is a browser extension to use with Safari, Google Chrome and Firefox.

I have been sitting here playing with the Feedly app for a couple days now.

The features I like about feedly are:

  • You can easily import your Google Blogs your subscribed to in Google Reader.
  • You can catagorize the blogs you read.
  • You can save and tag articles you want to see again and again for ideas.
  • It's easy to use.
  • I like the short description to the blog posts and photos.
  • When you click on the link you can read the full post right in Feedly.
  • When viewing blog posts that are not in the feed. In Firefox on the bottom lower right hand side is a menu box. Click on the green bookmark and the page you are viewing is saved into your feedly app. This is so cool.
I've been spending time looking for blogs with Craft Storage Ideas.
Being able to save the posts I like and sorting them out with tags is so convient and fun.
It sure makes referencing back to something you like easy.

To me this feature is like having your own personal Pinterest site right there in Feedly.
With the full view to the articles when you click on the link directly in the feedly app.

I hope everyone makes the transition as easily and seemlessly as I have.

County Carnival Layout

This week I have been busy putting layouts together. Here's one I came up with.
It's been awhile since I been scrapbooking and I'm glad to be back at it again!!
I thought the Imagine Spring Chic Cartridge would be perfect for a Carnival layout.
It has so many brightly colored patterned papers.

Imagine Cartridge - Spring Chic for the papers and banner.
                                 Nursery Tails for the duck
I also used stickers from October Afternoon Midway collection.

I'm working on Christmas Cards.
I just got the Cricut Snowfolks Cartridge. I love this cartridge.
I think the snowmen on here are so cute!!

My Crafting Smash Book

I finally started My Smash Book! I am so excited to bring this to you. I started this book to document/journal about the things that I love seeing and doing. My Gardens and Crafting for starters. I haven't worked up to my gardens but I did start with my crafting pages!!
How it all began to pictures of my craft room and all the things I love.
I found an awesome Imagine Cartridge called Word Of Mouth. It works fantastic using these images in Smash books. I will also be posting about on my other blog Scrapbooking Grandma Crafts since this is about using Smash Books. I also used products from K&Company and CTMH. I was able to get a good start on this book and I have been having a ball working on this book today. I will try to get all the products used listed below.

I am just thrilled with this cartridge and how well it works for using them with Smash Books.
When I started flipping through the hand book. I just kept getting more and more excited about the possibilities this cartridge has!!

On these pages I used:
Cricut Imagine Cartridge: Word Of Mouth - All Images cut at 2.5"
I used CTMH rubons - X7149C - Lucy
CTMH buttons - Z1370 - Pink Assorment
CTMH twine
I used K&Company - Stickers

Things I want to have in my smash book about crafting
  • Pictures of me and my craft room
  • Things that inspired me to craft
  • Some background to when I first started crafting as a young girl to now.
  • How crafting evolved over the years.
  • Things I want to learn
  • Tips and Tricks
  • Stamping Techniques
  • Coloring techniques
  • Pictures of projects I've made

As I'm getting more into making this book I get more and more ideas of what I want in it.
Since I am getting more ideas I see a book 2 in my future.
I don't have a lot of time to work on scrapbooks. I thought this would be a good way to keep crafting.
I'm also using this book to experiment a little more with the Smash book concept and other techniques.
Then bring some things I do in this book to my scrapbook pages and cards I make.

Happy Birthday Card

March is the month for Birthdays for me, my daughter and granddaughter.
So I thought it appropriate to kick off with a birthday card this month. I know it's been a long time since I posted a project. But, sometimes life just has other things that need you to take care of first. I have neglected my poor Imagine. I'm hoping to get back on track and post more projects!

Card Size - 5-1/2 x 8-1/2
Imagine Cartridge - The Good Old Days
Cake was cut at 3"
Happy Birthday was cut at 2"
Ribbon is from CTMH

This was a quick and easy card to put together. I really enjoyed using my Imagine!
I was surprised when I used this cartridge to see the colors are so bright and vibrant.
